The ferry from Battery Park to Liberty Island and Ellis Island is highly recommended, actually a must, especially those who visit New York for the first time. Do go to the ticket counter on time in the morning because it can be very busy and you will be in line for a long time.
It is a nice trip, if the weather is good of course. You can get off at the statue of liberty and you can stay there as long as you want, until the last ferry goes of course. The next stop on the way back is Ellis Island. Is just a nice trip!
