Applied for construction job with Kelly Jordan was told that they were hiring and looking to start people immediately as long as you pass a drug screen, background check, and go thru interview process.
Passed drug screen on the spot, background check came thru and was clean (I knew I would pass both tests), was told I would be contacted as soon as she (Kelly) spoke with foreman/project manager and would be able to start as soon as she gets the ok from them and finalizes everything.
1,2,3,5 days go by and I haven't Heard a peep from her or anyone who reps their company. So I call and ask for feedback on the job I was told "I promise I'll have an answer for you tommorow by 12 noon" this was 9 days after I applied in person , passed drug screen and submitted to background check. The day I spoke with her was on the Tuesday right before thanksgiving. I am writing this on the Sunday after thanksgiving. Now with prior job opportunities with staffing agencies I know not to trust them at at, 95% are looking for someone to fill a job quickly for a short period of time so they can profit from you. They will lie to you about job duration just to get you on the job site, I've see this happen to 100s of people, so I knew not to trust them and not to put all my eggs into one basket and wait on them, more or less I was curious to see if they were going to actually back up what they say. The job site is a big job just south of Rock hill and it still has months left and they are paying good wages to be out. I am very well qualified to work on the job , I have plenty of experience working in construction as an electrician industrial commercial and low voltage control work. I would never do a review like this to a company no matter how poorly I was treated or how much garbage I was fed to fill a position for a month just to be laid off , yet I am sick of companies hiring people just to get a job done then laying them off, staff agencies lying to people and telling them what they want to hear just so they can make a profit. I am tired of it and speaking out now. It's modern day pimping. They seek you out or vice versa tell you what you want to hear and use you for a profit then disregard you like a piece of garbage, and they could careless because there is 500 other people in same situation.
I've only actually worked for one staffing company and I will say they did everything they said they would however everyone on the job that wasn't an employee of the company that you were staffed for were going to be laid off at the beginning of the year, gladly they did it after Xmas and I truely believe the staffing company t had no knowledge of it. I found out by talking to floor manager and e made some comments that I questioned and they didn't sit well with me so before I gave them the opportunity to lay me off I quit and found. A full time job with a company.
Point being don't put all your eggs into one basket, don't believe what they say because everything changes daily and that's their excuse which it does but they definately with hold information. And definately DO NOT pass up a full time job with a real company over a staff company. Staff companies tend to pay a touch more which is alluring but long term you make more over time because a staff company is only used when needed, and again they tell you what you want hear remember they make atleast 10$ an hour off of your labor and that's on the lighter side, some companies charge 2-3x your wage, I understand they are out to make money but lying to people and using them like garbage isn't cool at all it's disgusting morally and ethically incorrect.
I am tired of seeing food hard working people screwed over by money hungry staff companies that do not care about anyone but themselves. DO NOT trust what a staff company tells you, they act so secretive about who they recruit for and job info then tell you whatever they have to to get you on site.
