Wes Duff Review of Agave Spa at Lajitas Golf Reso...

It is our second Anniversary and we decided to visit the Big Bend country. We did some research on the grounds and from what the website said and what was actually there were two totally different things. Our rooms were to come with a robe and slippers - it didn't, room was suppose to have french doors that took you out onto your balcony - it didn't , there was suppose to be a gas station and a trading post with breakfast burritos and coffee to enjoy before a long day of hiking and activities - there was no trading post or gas station, this place is a golf resort and we drove 10hrs to a golf resort to play golf. We called and made a reservation 1 week before we left. They took our reservation and told us that we are expected. We arrive and they had us in the wrong room so they had to move us. When we got into the room we requested the air conditioner did not work. They had to move us again. We arrived in the next room and the hot water did not work so they did not say sorry, they just got an attitude with us. It is not my fault your resort facilities do not work. When we arrived to the resort and got settled into our room we wanted to set up our golf game. We noticed that the golf course did not look champion grade. Well guess what! 80% of the golf course was under a foot or more of dirt. They got a flood a couple of weeks ago and did not care to let us know the golf course is out of commission before we drove 10hrs to get there. A golf resort that could not get us in a comfortable room and a golf resort that did not have a golf course. No apologies were given and nothing was comped and everything with the service of the resort was horrible.
The staff was rude and it made us furious during our special day (Anniversary)
The restaurants had poor cooking and we tried it three times before we decided to drive an hour or so to get a pizza or some other form of food than the crap they served at LaJitas. I ordered the beef fajitas and when they arrived it was greasy and the meat was very chewy. Best of all the beef was seasoned with taco seasoning. It was horrible and we couldn't even eat the meal we paid 40 bucks for. The service was horrible all three times we ate there. We wanted to eat at the nice restaurant there but they were closed Sunday and Monday.
I will probably never come back. The only reason I say probably is because of the reasons below.
ON THE PLUS SIDE:
The bar was very nice and great service. We spent our time here every night because it made us feel like we were in a resort.
The pool is very nice.
The scenery is very beautiful.
We went horse back riding and the staff there was great and Cathy took very good care of us on our visit to the stables and around LaJitas.
The beds were very comfortable.
We stayed in the Officers Quarters.
Stayed October 10-13th 2008
