GORGEOUS cemetery. I can easily see why this is a national historical landmark.

The grounds are vast and I would highly recommend stopping at the cemetery office to talk to Pam (wonderful, lovely staff member) and pick up some maps. If there's something in particular you'd like to see, let Pam know - she is very knowledgeable and friendly.

The Norman Chapel is not open except during services and special occasions like Memorial Day, so don't count on that. But there's lots of other sights to see, enough that you could easily spend an entire afternoon here.

The grounds are immaculate and the landscape is loaded with lots of interesting focal points: hills, spooky trees, small bridges, tunnels, lonely paths. Tons of upright monuments, a Civil War section, incredible mausoleums, and serene ponds makes this place perfect for mediating, exercise (45 miles of paths!), and just appreciating nature and the peacefulness that comes from reflecting in a cemetery.

I can't give this place enough praise, it was everything I was hoping for.
