If you are shopping for a new AC Unit, Please DO NOT USE RUSSELL's. Two years ago Russell's Heating and Cooling sold me a $9,000 brand new AC unit. They told me this was the "Best" of the Good Better Best options. The unit ended up being quite large, so large in fact they needed an extra piece of concrete padding to stand on in my back yard. This unit proceeded to break 6 times over the next 2 years for one reason or another, usually when it was 90+ degrees outside usually taking multiple days to have a tech come out to fix the issues. However, the biggest problem came a few weeks ago. Russell's didn't check to make sure the existing duct work I had would support a new unit this large due to size and a lack of insulation in the duct. Because of this, my duct work began to sweat, heavily, causing severe water damage to my downstairs ceiling and nearly $1,000 in damages. Russell's now refuses to take responsibility for this damage because they couldn't tell me if it would work with my duct or not. So my understanding is that I paid nearly $10,000 to an HVAC company who has expertise in this area...and they didn't know the duct wouldn't work with this unit? So who was supposed to know? Me? Someone who is not a residential HVAC expert? Or the company I paid a small fortune to to fix my AC? I will never use this company again and I implore anyone considering using them to look elsewhere as they apparently are not HVAC experts at all! And will just install the most expensive system they can sell you without regard to how it will work!
