Alex Hotel is a boutique hotel with a prime location, mere minutes from the train station, Northbridge and the CBD. If location is your only factor, this place has it.

The entrance isn't the easiest to find, and it has a very non traditional lobby area. Food is limited and once you find a menu, you order at the bar.

If you're lucky, your room will have a view, if like me you paid extra to have a balcony, you will probably find the view hidden behind a metal grid that extends the full height of the building, hiding the underwhelming view. Strangely my room had no wardrobe and limited unpacking surfaces. The bed was comfy. The lack of wardrobe or proper place to hang clothing was irritating.

As night-life begins from Thursday, there is an increase of noise from nearby bars.

There is a rooftop relaxation area, but that's it, no bar or food or anything up there.

TL;DR fantastic location, a little too boutiquey
