Good articles but poor investing strategy results

Sound Mind Investing has some excellent articles written from a biblical/Christian perspective. The have four investing strategies offered in their service and a fund SMIFX that they offer. Three of these strategies and the fund are actively managed, actively traded market timed strategies, based on mutual fund momentum calculations. They attempt to purchase a mutual fund on its rise and sell it early in its decline. I found this difficult to pull off consistently, resulted in frequent trading vs a buy and hold, and also had additional costs and taxes. The bottom line performance results of the three actively managed strategies was not very good as they consistently underperformed the market. So you end up having to perform a lot of trading, absorbing increased costs and taxes all to underperform the market fairly consistently. The SMIFX fund is rated two star by Morningstar. Preferred a straightforward buy and hold of low cost index funds with good asset class diversification.
