I think the Cabana Suites are much nicer than Motel 6's I have stayed in. The Cabanas are really novel for downtown since they are geared for a younger and more hip crowd. Everything is new and works well. The Cabanas themselves are across the street from the casino in a completely restored building. The cabanas have its own staffed front desk and posted security outside the front door (24 hr). You need a prox card to get into the building even with the guard and front desk staff there. Room keys are also the modern prox card type. I think the building is very safe.

The name is a bit off since these are not really cabanas and they aren't suites, but they do have fridges. For the price I don't think you can find anything as nice in downtown Las Vegas and it is only 2 blocks from the Fremont canopy.
