I've been on the Cave tours several times. It's a good place to take visitors to our area and it never disappoints. This is one of the best cave systems in the nation (I've been to quite a few.) They have special tours during the year - the candlelight tour, tours of new rooms opened up, and more. In summer there is often a star party, a great chance to see meteors from the top of Grayback Mountain. Always call ahead to make sure tours are running and buy tickets ahead of time at the IV Visitors Center in Cave Junction, to make sure you get on the tour time slot you want. Signs at the Visitors Center let you know the wait time during busy summer hours. You can enjoy a more relaxed tour in spring and fall and the scenery then is magnificent. I recommend the Oregon Caves for cave tours, hiking the beautiful trails around the mountain top, and a stop in the gift shop for great animal, mineral and plant ID guides, hoodies, souvenirs and educational items. Cost for a tour is about $15 and well worth it.
Nearby lodging is at Country Hills Resort, about 10 miles fromthe Caves. Other places are Out n About Treesort, Kerbyville Inn on hwy 199 in Kerby, Holiday Motel in Kerby, and Vertical Horizons on Dick George Rd just outside Cave Junction. The Chateau at the Caves is closed for renovations till 2021.
