James Eldridge Review of Cattlemens Steakhouse

Cattlemen's is an absolute classic steakhouse and an essential part of Oklahoma City. To begin, it's important to know the history of the Oklahoma City stockyards and how Cattlemen's was at the center of Oklahoma's cattle and meatpacking business. It has always been the place where ranchers could celebrate in a Friday night and where the packing plant foremen could breakfast early on a Saturday morning. The area has changed along with the industry. The steak continues to be an excellent value, and a prime cut is often on special most evenings. Every steak order comes with a salad (with house dressing), a potato, rolls, and toast. There are other items on the menu including pot roast, lamb fries, and freshly made desserts. The wine list is solid, if tame, and extremely affordable. Everything about this restaurant is old school, and a visit to OKC really isn't complete without a visit here and to the stockyards.
