WE DON'T GOLF! And it doesn't matter a bit, it's a great place to stop just outside the park. If you can't get a reservation inside the park at Chisos Mountain Lodge, which is nearly impossible when the kids are out of school, this is the next best thing. If you do come for the golf, make sure you spend at least one day to make a trip to the park. It's certainly worth the 1hr drive which doesn't feel at all like an hour since you're driving one of the most scenic roads in the entire country! Another great half-day side trip is driving the historic and scenic FM170 along the Rio Grande to Presidio. There's a couple great places to stop along 170 (e.g. Closed Canyon Trail) and you can eat lunch at a local border dive. The resort itself certainly is not cheap and I was surprised I had to ask for, and then be charged extra for a "roll-in microwave"... who's every heard of being charged for microwave that had obviously been anchored in the room previously then was removed and then they have to roll it back in on a cart if you want to use one?! Oh well, I guess this place has quirks in more ways than one.
