7 weeks have past now and I haven't spoken to a single person by phone nor email. The first week I called over a hundred times. My online application took over a week to complete as the website kept crashing. I filled out the same online questions dozen of times, and have no idea the results. The dept of labor is the same when trying to speak to someone about wrongful termination. The one letter received by snail mail on april 14th, stating I need to requests funds by april 13th on a website (FL DEO's "contact" website I used to apply) that no longer exists or cant be found by my browser. Then was told if applied before April 4th, I would have to do it all again on new website. Did that and still nothing. Today I had my second meeting with a lawyer. They will take over my wrongful termination issue, but still nothing as I continue to call the reemployment assistance at FL DEO. I now spend most of my time calling my elected officials, both state and federal. That is as pointless as contacting the FL DEO and the governor's office. I don't know of a single person that has been paid (may I remind you, the nation's lowest sum for unemployment payments.) I was lucky enough to find new work last week (substantially less pay and NOT with the FL DEO website of job postings). Now I just assume I will never see the 5 weeks of unemployment assistance payments. Decades of work and taxes, and never once have I needed unemployment pay, and now when needing it desperately, I can't even make contact with a single person at FL DEO.
