Good store overall. Quite close to where I live and "they have what you need" but at a fairly high price. There is savings on the shoppers card but the fuel savings in my case were pretty confusing since I could not use the card directly at the pump at the participating shell station. I had to go to the cashier and then only got 20 cents per gallon off though my June total was 277. Maybe it is in increments of 10 cents?
Newly revamped bulk area is an improvement over the old one though the scale is inoperable so you still have to bag and put the PLU# on the twisty like before. Frozen foods are extensive as is the wine (a good selection below 10 bucks). Liquor is small but adequate. Fish counter is good but never seems to be open when I come by at night which is often at 10 PM. The selection of fresh breads is good. One of the guys announcing the 10 PM closure of the upstairs doors sounds like he had a bit of the peace pipe. But hey...it's Seattle and in particular cap hill.
Expect to be panhandled outside the main door on broadway so if it bugs you use the side exit in the rear of the deli area or go up through the wines and exit that door (before 10 PM).
Update: the panhandling seems to have died down and the security guy is on guard just inside the entrance. There were likely multiple complaints or rampant theft?
