A friend and I decided to take a last minute weekend getaway to Memphis. We chose the Westin due to location and the reputation of the Westin Hotel chains. We were able to get a room same day, however, upon arrival, the hotel was under heavy renovations. I understand that renovating takes time and may get messy, but goodness, this place was a train wreck! We were told upon check in the elevators were not working and that we would need to take the service elevator. We were lead to an unmarked door that brought us into a kitchen like work area where employees look annoyed at our presence. The service elevator took a lengthy amount of time arrive and was very filthy. We arrive to our room and there is a giant red stain on the carpet. YUCK! Not to mention, the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke. After settling in, we arrive back in the lobby to see the elevators were not fixed and there was a construction crew breaking up the floor tile and beginning heavy construction in that area. Would I pay to stay here again, no. Maybe when the renovations are completed and the floor stains are cleaned up. My experience was such a disappointment. Good thing we were only in our room for a few hours.
