DO NOT work with Susan Meeks. I am an active duty military member and I bought my first home in Alexandria. When I got orders to move to another state, I called up Tom & Cindy and spoke with Susan Meeks. I explained I had never rented out a property before and she assured me they take care of everything. The first set of renters moved out in May 2015 and she never got another set of renters in there, it's been empty for 3 months. While it was empty, the area got a lot of rain. The basement drain got clogged (because Susan was not checking the house regularly) and the basement flood. Susan sent me an email saying the basement was flooded and the AC was broken. I hired an AC repairman to go fix it. The AC was not broke, the power was out. Despite Susan telling me they handle everything, they do not handle everything. The power had been out for quite some time so I have no idea the length of time damage was occurring. When trying to get the power turned back on, I needed the breakers turned off. I sent Susan an email on a Monday morning asking if she could help me. She said she would do it tomorrow. I asked it to be done that day so another repairman could go in to start fixing the flooded basement. Susan ignored me. On Tuesday morning I called her and asked if the breakers could be turned off. Susan told me she was so busy with so many properties that she would get to it when gets to it. Susan told me it was unrealistic of me to think a property manager would "jump to" for a homeowners request (my request was for her to make the 10 minute drive to my property to take the 2 minutes to turn off breakers). Even though my basement was flooded, Susan did not care and had no desire to get the situation fixed. Susan also blamed me for the power going out saying I should have known to put the power in my name. I told Susan I wanted to switch property managers and asked her to the my keys ready for another company to pick up. Susan agreed to have the keys at her front office after we got off the phone (10am). She lied, she held onto the keys until after 5pm just to be cruel when she knew I was still trying to get the basement repairman in the house. Do NOT work with Susan Meeks, she will be too busy to help you, she won't get your house rented and if anything goes wrong she blames the homeowner.
