I was taken by a Chinese acquaintance with a large party and even though I was not paying I was disappointed and would never bother to return. Unmemorable food, perfectly prepared; perfect service by cold robots; expensive decor, bland to the point of disappearing, except for the central light fitting which was just awful. If the food was all so perfect, and technically it was, why was it instantly forgettable? I do not exaggerate when I say that dinner the following evening at the RAC was much better and the service far more genuine and pleasant but still immaculate.
