I ll give you the step-by-step of my purchasing experience at Sun Toyota in Holliday. First, I communicated to my salesman, Z, that I was interested in a used Toyota Tacoma for around $27,000. The first car he showed me, had damage on the front. The second car was much more to my liking and was under 27 so I was very interested in purchasing. I walked to a desk and he said he would be back with a write up of my price. He came back with a optional warrantee already on the balance sheet. I informed him immediately that I have no interest in the warranty and I would like it to be taken off before I even consider the price. I was then approached by Z and a sales manager, I don t remember the man s name, and he informed me that he could not sell me the car without the warranty. So the sticker price was not the actual price of the car. Isn t that illegal? Anyway, I communicated very calmly that I thought it was immoral and unethical for this dealership to treat a prospective customer this way. I should have just walked, but I didn t. Then informed Z that I had about $4000 I could put down on a car and his interest in making a sale was revitalized. He returned with a price for a new Toyota Tacoma SR5 at $28,000 or so with my down payment. I was very interested and we went forward from there. On the day I purchased the car, I went back to meet with your finance managers. The finance manager s first pitch after I came with a competitive loan pre-approval from my credit union for a loan was to pay double the apr and then refinance the car after one year for a lower interest-rate. I m not an idiot, I understand cars depreciate, I was absolutely insulted by the beginning of this conversation. He proceeded to then badger me for 45 minutes about every single warranty possible but I politely declined until she stood up in anger and just walked out of the room to go get another finance manager. That man was much easier to deal with. I then did finance the car with Southeast Toyota finance at a better apr than my credit union. Z then informed me that he did not have both keys for my new truck that I just purchased. He said I could come back in two days to pick it up. I returned as instructed and was informed that the key was never made, and I would have to bring the car in when your key maker was there. He apologized and said I would receive a rental car for having to go out of my way for something that should ve been given to me with the original purchase. Icalled on the day I knew your key guy was coming in and was informed that there was no rentals for me to use. I called a week later to see if there were any rentals for me to use and there were none. I then informed Z I was tired of this, and he could call me when he could make right on his rental car statement. I waited a month, I received no call. A friend of mine had to drive me twice from tampa to holiday to pick up a key that I was owed a month and a half before. Of course, anytime I went into the dealership, Z was not working. I suspect he didn t want to see me. I was not rude, I did not yell. This was my first car purchase at a dealership. I believe next time I will be using an online dealership but it definitely won t be from Sun Toyota.
