UA is a party school at its core. Academics are in the second or third tier, but they charge no less than a pound of flesh. The fierce loyalty it inspires is typically due in part to the athletic programs or recent graduates who are eager to justify their bad investment. Many of the degrees offered here are worth less than the paper. Tucson is full of UA grads working as waiters or retail cashiers.

There are some graduate level programs of interest at UA, but if you are a prospective parent looking at schools for your urchins, caveat emptor. This campus is a liberal "safe space" where ideas outside of the politically correct orthodoxy are viewed with increasing disdain.
