Nicolette Libelt Review of IBIS

Location was good, nearby to the town centre. Bed was comfy. However, there were several problems I found with the room and hotel that I could not ignore. The bathroom is tiny and poorly laid out, the toilet is behind the door to the bathroom so it is impossible to full open the door and it gets in the way very easily. The shower in my room was broken, it did not adjust to be higher up so I had to duck underneath the water stream, or hold the nozzle above my head. Not fun. As well there were only 2 outlets in the room on the far side by the little desk, none by the bed or anywhere else. Very inconvenient and annoying. The walls were incredibly thin and being near the elevator I heard every 'ding-dong' of the elevator arriving and every conversation nearby. Finally, although I had the "do not disturb" sign on my doorknob, the housekeepers knocked and tried to enter every day I was there! I put the sign there for a reason and it was blatantly ignored. I understand Ibis is a budget hotel but it's still classified as 3 stars and I expect better. Will likely be staying elsewhere on my next visit to Bordeaux.
