They sought to approve planning to demolish a cherished piece of the Devonshire Quarter in Sheffield, with some highly recommended and unique shops that reside there. Despite opposition from nearly 20,000 objectors, and the support of the Guardian, Jarvis Cocker and The Arctic Monkeys, Coda still decided to maintain their "community ethics" and seek to demolish them. The new building that will perhaps eventually replace them is nothing special - even from the perspective of a contemporary architecture fan - it is nothing but a brick husk, losing all of the charm of the original building.
