Our experience with Thomson Safaris was excellent....

Our experience with Thomson Safaris was excellent. Booking with Erin was a breeze and she kept us informed on all required steps. Once we arrived in Africa, every little detail was attended to: from pickups at the airport, flights, lodges, porters, tours, etc. there was always someone to greet us and guide us to our locations.

The safari itself was amazing and the local guides ("Shout out" to Head Guide: Willie, as well as Mohamed and Mohdi) who were so knowledgeable as well as personable (funny!) and helpful to our entire group. They were amazing in locating animals and birds and worked tirelessly each and every day to accommodate the day's agenda as well as our group's desires. (Also, Mohdi did his best to teach us some Swahili phrases and words, too, which was fun.) I can't leave out the fact they are fantastic drivers/mechanics as some of the "roads" (if you can call them that) were extremely difficult to traverse.

Additionally, all staff at the hotels/lodges as well as the camp crews went above and beyond to make our stays comfortable. Camps were well appointed, and getting a personal wake up call along with a cup of coffee each morning was so appreciated! Charging stations, great food (try the soups!), hot wash towels, hot showers, a comfortable bed, Happy Hour campfires and a welcoming camp crew made the camp experiences fun and something to look forward to.

The cultural/educational experiences with the locals-Maasai that were built into our itinerary contributed to us having a more well-rounded safari experience. We all learned so much and it was joyful to see the locals welcome us with open arms.

Lastly, no one day on the safari was ever the same. We saw so many animals, the wildebeest migration and even the notoriously "shy" Black Rhino!

Tanzania is truly a beautiful country with a great culture and welcoming people. We can't say enough about the entire experience and highly recommend Thomson Safaris for your first (or next!) safari adventure!
