Wow !!! What an experience we shared this past 8 weeks! What a difference it made in our lives both physically and mentally. And now ... now we can begin our life. It's not going to be easy that's for sure, but if life was easy we probably would be bored and continue to harm ourselves.
Our days were long starting at 6 am and by 9 am class after class after class our night ended at 9 pm and in bed by 11 pm and your day would then begin again at 6 am 7 days a week. Bruce and I would look forward to Friday's because for one hour we got to see each other!! In the beginning I understood the one hour visit so we can focus on ourselves, but towards the end I definitely voiced my anger loudly.
We were the first husband and wife couple to enter their rehab together so they were unsure how to handle the situation.
The classes we took it's just the beginning .. a seed planted in our hearts mind and soul so we can grow from there.
The Nursing Staff the Therapist and BHA's were there for us helping us along the way but sometimes their suggestions were not always the ones we wanted or to hear but we understand it was the best way to approach whatever the situation was.
Toward the end of our stay we did surf therapy .. yes I did get up on a surf board !! It was such an amazing experience, I hate the ocean water it's nasty and it tastes gross .. but I did get up after the third time .. and we were out there for an hour my surf instructor said to me .. Life is like an ocean, it's unpredictable take a deep breath and ride the wave. and I did! I wish Bruce could have seen me and I wish I could have seen him surf but we are not allowed to take pictures and my phone was on lockdown!! It's crazy when I first came in there I could hardly walk and I ended up on a surf board !!
We are very grateful for this opportunity that has been given to us. Thank you for all your love and support !!
Bruce and Michelle
