I tried out BitPainting for a custom artwork, and although the final result was decent, I didn't feel that it was exceptional. The artist followed my instructions well, but it lacked that wow factor. The pricing was reasonable, and the process was straightforward, but I expected a bit more creativity and uniqueness in the final piece.
