A local group of us have been golfing Bonaire as our holiday long weekend treat for years.
Totally love the course, big old trees, beautiful fairways and greens maintained to 5 star conditions.
I've noticed in the past couple of years the course has abandoned its 3rd 9 hole course. Times are tough, do what is necessary to keep yourselves afloat. I admire that .
Only fault really has been the slow decline in the clubhouse drinks and food service. Staffing has been cut back severely in the clubhouse, so an after round beer or lunch is sketchy at best.
Was there yesterday, there was one staff member to service the reception area, take food and drink orders (at two separate counters) and run the grill to prep the hot lunches.
Needless to say the results were abysmal. I ended up with a hot dog that may have been warm at some point, a fried egg sandwich for the wife that arrived some 10 minutes after the dog.
I will happily give you 5 stars for fairways and greens, but your abysmal performance in the after golf drink or lunch is worth 1.
Blend the two and I give you a 2.5. Sorry, but you let me and my friends down. Norman
