We have had boardwalk birthday parties for our children for the past 4 years. Since Sandy, we thought of Blackbeard's Cave as a second alternative for this year. It is a little run down but we thought the kids would still have a blast. We tried to book a birthday party for approx 40-45 children with pizza/soda and a wristband for the rides. They wouldn't help us. I had to go there to meet them and follow up with phone calls to different departments within the park to get a NO! I tried to customize the party based on our needs but they offered a pizza party, arcade tokens and 4 rides per child (although their site says customized parties avail). So I asked if we could do 2 hour wristbands (Funtown Pier allowed a 5 hour wristband) to accommodate our crowd PAYING A HIGHER PRICE OF COURSE than Seaside and not to put them out and they said wristbands were out of the question. The party is for 2 children so we have a big party to accommodate both children.

I was surprised they turned down the business on a $800 birthday party. They must be doing great in a time where most businesses are struggling. I was willing to pay more money for less in order to keep our business in the local area and was turned down. Point Pleasant will take our money so we moved the party but how ridiculous I had to speak to 4 different people and follow up myself to hear they weren't interested in our business. I figured I never got the chance to speak to an owner, he or she probably would have found a way to make it work for both groups...the employees could have cared less. Disappointed and mostly surprised turning down good money in this climate!
