Updating my review. October 2017
I used the contractors associated with DirectBuy Toronto North for pool and backyard renovations this year. I have to post a comment on these contractors. Optimal Pools owner, Guy Potter, and Astonia Landscaping owner, James Dennison, claimed they worked well together but I found that was not the case. Things happened to pool equipment, Mr. Potter and Mr. Dennison took no ownership of. I went to close my pool this week, only to discover that since my pool had not been opened when work commenced, this team had removed and thrown out all the winterizing items that should have been kept. A safety item went missing from my pool pump timer, and I was left with a very unsafe pool pump timer that could have caused a fatality. Again, no one took ownership. I had purchased a new pool heater in 2016 and during the course of renovation it took a beating, but of course there was no compensation for damage. I spent the rest of the summer fixing things that Mr. Dennison said he would send a team to fix. So please take note if you are doing a reno involving updating the backyard and pool, there are many companies out there that work so much better together than these two. Do yourself a favour and hire a local company, get a drawing, a time line of when the work will commence and above all else GET A WRITTEN CONTRACT detailing everything.
