Recently had an emergency and made a visit with the emergency room at Advent Hospital in Sebring. The emergency room staff was very attentive, and knowledgable. The wait time was very short. The conclusion of my visit was emergency orthopedic surgery. After surgery I was told I would stay in the hospital for 3 days, to watch for infection. The hospital staff have no clue what is going on. More then once I was asked by the staff the reason for my visit. The injury was in my foot and never once was it looked at or asked about. My sheets were not changed the whole time, nor was I offered a bath. I had to move rooms because I began in the OB ward, so my lunch came in a bag with another room number on it and mine written over it. I was not given my daily routine of medications, until the last day there. Discharged as promised on the right day but took forever. 12:30 pm finally discharged. As im getting dressed, I see my clothes from the ER were put in a bag with a bottle of tea, I was drinking while there. The lid was not on the tea, but they put it in with my clothes anyway. So I had nothing to wear home but the lovely gowns, tied in the back, for all to see. The nurse comes back in and says the doctor wanted antibiotic given by IV. Ive already signed the discharge papers. I'm mad now, my mom has been waiting for me for hours. The IV would be another couple hours. I said no! The follow up appointments given to me were for doctors in Ocala, and Plant City, though the doctors who treated me were in Sebring. I won't return to this hospital!
