Everything was excellent.

Everything was excellent.
Two adult and two children on a saturday night.
We pre-ordered the presse de canard then had 2 escargot, a fish soup, a side salad, green beans and a chocolate fondant.

The quality of cooking and flavours were spot on.
The presse duck was excellent, very flavourful and extremely good value for money. The duck was presented, sliced and then carcass pressed at the side of the table. The breast were taken away sliced and then served with some wilted spinach, sauted mushrooms, potato puree and the sauce. The leg meat was shredded and served as a second course of duck salad.
Our entire meal including two glasses of wine was under 200.

The service was friendly and efficient.
We actually intended to order an extra plate of ravioli for the kids but the waiter recommended us hold off as he said it would be too much food and he was right. By the time we finished the duck salad we had no room for individual desserts and just shared a chocolate moelleux.

The room is cosy but if you have erythrophobia be careful as it is very red. On a saturday night when it fills up it is noisy but not uncomfortable. You can still maintain a conversation without shouting, you can even check out the noise level as they have a decibel meter hung over the kitchen.

The only thing I could fault was that the fish soup wasn't quite hot enough. It is served on a soup plate, one of those wide and shallow bowls as such it cools down too quickly and is cold before you even get half way through it.

Overall the best restaurant we tried in Amsterdam in terms of service, cooking, food quality and value for money.
