Unfortunately this 5 star hotel of the Sofitel chain does not meet the level of service and quality people expect when choosing the hotels of the Sofitel chain. This hotel is not worth its 5 stars as it is far from a luxury hotel. The hotel has suburb views but the location is under the landing-taking off track of Ajaccio Airport, which means an airplane noise every hour during day and night.

At the first look you can see that the hotel itself is in need of urgent maintenance. The facades and interior of the hotel building are worn down and the rooms are smudgy and look in urgent need of redecoration. There are stains in the carpet and curtains but the most shocking is the state of the vent/air conditioning in the room. It is full of dust and the ceiling has a big wet stain near it. It does not look like nice or hygienic, which you expect from any luxury hotel. One morning we even found a cigarette butt on our balcony, which was never cleaned in the 3 following days that we stayed in the hotel. The public areas like the pool and the spa need urgent maintenance and the spa needs a better offer including bigger saunas.

The choice of breakfast is limited especially for the price of 28 euro. Even more disappointing is the poor choice of evening meals and the overly expensive beverages (overrated local wines for five times the price of the same wine in the local stores).

However the most disappointing is the staff or lack of professionally of the staff. On arrival it becomes immediately clear that the hotel staff consists mainly of students, which are inexperienced in taking proper care of the guests. We were never asked how our stay was, neither during our stay nor at check-out. Even when we inquired if there was a feedback form or if someone was interested in our feedback the answer was no, a feedback form will be sent to you by email . The bill had multiple false entries, for which we had to prove that we did not receive the billed service. The staff seems to be aware of the problems, but does not seem to want to do anything to improve the service and comfort for the guests to meet the standard of a 5 star luxury hotel.
