I met an air racer in 1965. I have been hooked on the Reno Air Race ever since. This is an Air race with an air show. It's not really about an air show it's about RACING. Highly modified WWII planes with a 'run what ya brung' attitude. My non-air race friends are always amazed when I tell them there is a 28 cylinder 4360 cubic inch engine on the front of single seat airplane trying to average 500 mph around a 8 mile course 50 to 150 feet above the ground racing 8 other airplanes. As big as that engine is it is outclassed by a Rolls Royce V-12 putting out 3,500 plus HP. If you are a motor head you really should go at least once.
