Review of YOTEL New York

It's cheaper than most places in new York, but you...

It's cheaper than most places in new York, but you definitely get what you pay for. They basically charge you for any additional amenity you need, like if you need toothbrushes or toothpaste (which is fine).

What is not fine is that the hotel does not provide guests with access to free hot water. We asked a cleaner on our floor where we could get hot water from, and she had no idea where to get it from. We ended up having to pay 50 cents for a small cup of water from the cafe downstairs.

What is definitely not fine is how rude some of their staff are. We were checked out and wanted to store our bags so that we could spend the day exploring the city, but the staff in charge of taking our bags in was extremely rude and dismissive. He told us that each bag checked was a charge of $2 cash, which was also quite sketchy considering how everywhere else in the hotel payments could be made with credit card. We told him we did not have cash on us and he coldly pointed to an ATM in the lobby and told us to get money from there. We were turned off by both his treatment towards us, and also somewhat suspicious of the fact that they charged cash for bags checked, which we have NEVER seen in any other hotel we have been to (and we have been to many hotels) so we left with our bags and a bad taste in our mouths. (Also, when we mentioned this, this staff member claimed that most hotels charge $5-$7, essentially a lie).
