Jeeze, I went here with some friends from Maui and Kauai and little did I know that this may be replacing Bamboo Grove as my new favorite Hawaiian restaurant in Portland. It was right before Christmas and on that Saturday they had a live musician. I don't know if it was every Saturday or just the one, but he was a terrific singer. If he is a regular player there, his Israel Kamakawiwaole songs are great. He sings just like him!
Their food was delicious and prices were competitive. Portions were huge, just the way they should be. Also, the restaurant has a terrific feel to it. It was like a restaurant right out of Hawaii, but less red dirt blowing through from the trade winds. It didn't feel dirty or grungy, which part of it is the fact it is new.
Noho's has great recipes and this restaurant on Fremont shows they are a business that is out to honor Hawaii.
