I have been traveling extensively all my life and I think some of the bad reviews have missed the airport offerings, probably due to lack of clear advertisement of the offered services. There are some shortcomings and here is what I don't like about the airport as pointed out correctly by some: 1)There should be a large screen at the entrance where taxis drop passengers with flight info and relative check-in area. Without that people are confused from second one. 2) There is no intuitive flux from check in to gates, hence the need for very clear and explicit signs. 3) There is ample sitting but not by some of the gates and this is bad. 4) The overall design of the airport does not reflect the Italian level of aesthetics but very few Italian airports do. 5) The areas of the airport are not well layout so you have the north side full of services and food options and the south side almost bare. Here is what I like and I like it a lot: 1) Excellent security with a large number of courteous personnel and some ingenious solutions like the inclined belt sending crates back (german airports take notice). This makes it for a safe airport where long lines move very very quickly through security. 2) An outstanding selection of food services, a store (!) bookstores, bars (maybe they should be mapped and advertised more clearly) with an outstanding quality of food offering second to none (if you want fast food you are -thankfully - in the wrong airport though). 3) Which airport can boast a Ducati and a Ferrari store and two hot Lambos parked by the airport exit greeting travelers coming to Motor Valley? 4) A constant supply of taxis at the arrival. 5) Parking is close to airport and covered parking is an option.
