My name is Shellaina Miller and I reside in Arcanum, Ohio. My father Charles Lee Fraker resided in Grove City, Ohio for over 20 years.
My father died on March 5th 2020 after succumbing to cardiac arrest. Grant hospital pronounced him dead about 3:00 a.m.
After the family and I witnessed his body, I asked the Chaplin to have the emergency support tube removed. I was assured that it would be removed and his body would be delicately cared for.
Six days lapsed, as I called daily to have his body sent to the funeral home. Grant was communicating that his doctor needed to sign off on his death certificate. His doctor was communicating that nothing was being recieved. There Coroner's office was telling me it was up to the other two parties. Grant insisted that they couldn't release him without the doctor's signature. It wasn't until I contacted investigations before anything changed. Ohio Cremation was finally able to obtain him 8 days later.
Upon meeting with Beth at Ohio Cremation I was devastated to learn that Grant hospital froze my father for six days with that tube! The repercussions of that has resulted in my inability to have proper funeral for him. The tube busted the blood vessels in my father's face distorting it. I was told that having a viewing could do more harm than good. The ability to make him look normal was not possible. I was crushed in the realization that I had to have him cremated with no viewing; no closure! I'm wrecked with grief over this! I believe this to be cruel, inhumane, and improper treatment of a corpse. Please offer me some guidance for justice in this matter!
