Timing can truly mean everything. Time of year and time of day. We visited first thing in the morning on the first Friday of September. We visited the Crown Jewels first with no delay (in fact, we toured it twice because there virtually was no queue). This allowed us to take our time to explore the remainder of the complex until it got busier. We spent several hours on this visit.
