It is worth the extra cost to get a guided tour that will give you early access! Once the doors were open to the general public, the entire Tower was quickly over-run and it became nearly impossible to see anything!

In spite of the crowds, however, the tower is well preserved and the displays are beautifully curated. Definitely worth a visit when in London!
