This past year, Gold's Gym shut its doors, and the members were transitioned to the Charlotte Athletic Club. The CAC team was very welcoming during the transition, even while experiencing some expected growing pains. Since then (about six months), the gym seems to have found its rhythm. Members seem quite focused on improving while still exchanging pleasantries. The equipment is sufficient and well kept, though everyone has an opinion on the "one piece of equipment that's missing" :) Perhaps inviting members to submit an equipment suggestion might be of value to CAC. The amenities, including steam and sauna, are excellent, except for some of the men's showers, which are still not functioning consistently. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. The front desk makes you feel welcomed every day, and the custodial staff is pleasant and always go the extra mile. The trainers are cordial and accommodating to all. For all that is good with CAC, it is somewhat surprising that the management vibes are pretty inconsistent; never know if you get a smile or blank stare. Location is convenient to all of the downtown workplaces, and pricing is very fair. Lastly, I have never been to a gym where everything is on point, but CAC is solid.
