Would give a negative score if I could. My husband...

Would give a negative score if I could. My husband and I went in to originally buy a new 2016 Jeep. But we learned of a great 2004 Jeep that was in and we decided to look at it too. Mostly because it was V8 and could tow 5000lbs. Where as the 2016 was V6 and tow capacity was 2000. So we ended up liking the 2004 better. All was going great. The said they would tent front window touch up scratches and even replace rotors and brakes. They had just put new tires on it too, so I was thinking, okay this is awwweeeesome!! I was so happy! this is before we drive it because the keys were locked up in a building that was closed on Sundays. So we go back and drive it on Monday, today, and realize the passenger seat controls are broken. And not only broken but the seat will only ride at an angle or you have to raise the front of it to match the back of it and your head almost touched the ceiling. My husband who is 6 foot 5 inches, his head did touch ceiling. So basically you could not lower the seat and if you did it was at an angle and when the driver breaks you slide forward. We tried to get the sales person to sit in it himself to see what we meant but he said, "i can see the control in broken it doesn't work, so no need". Okay so salesman knows seat is broken. They said they just got the car and must have missed it.

Now KBB value on this was $8495, at excellent condition. At the top price. They had it listed for $8995. So over value, and not to mention the $1200 in document and dealer fees. Fine. I am at a dealership I get it. But when you realize the passenger seat, the most important seat besides the driver seat is broken, you either fix it and still try and get top dollar or you reflect that in the price and let the customer fix it.

First they refused to fix it and i said I will forgo all the tinting and brakes and rotors, I just want the seat fixed. That could easily be a $2k problem for me, but they can easily replace a seat thru the factory, and if not it would cost them a fraction of what it would cost me. So they said fine to that. Then they said only if we pay them first. We were like ..."no, you fix it then we will pay you." Why is that so hard to digest? You fix the seat, we will come and look at it, make sure you fixed it right, and then we will give you your money.

But they refused. Said no. Then they said they would try and sell it without fixing the seat to a single driver. meaning someone who doesn't have a passenger riding. The guy tried to sell that to me by saying "the woman who owned it it was her car. Her husband had his own car so he never rode in her car" Ummm what? Don't most all american families have 2 cars now? What difference does that make. Someone still rode in it because the seat was worn. We all ride in our spouses cars from time to time and we have guest and friends and honestly...what? LOL!

If i am paying ABOVE book value for a car, I want the damn seats to work, used or not. If i was paying 30% less than book value then sure, I may buy a car that has a broken seat and fix it myself. What world doe these people live on. And they were so ugly and rude to us at the end.

Don't forget we went in there originally thinking and prepared to buy a new car. So they didn't even follow up on that. The just threw both sales right out the door all because we didn't want to be swindled.

I was shocked, and honestly hurt. I thought we were there to make a deal and we were ready to do this thing, and then realized the seat was broken and just asked them to fix that, even forget all the other promised stuff, so tried to meet them half way. And just because we would not pay them first they said no to everything and then literally told us they were going to try and sell it as is at the same price without telling anyone it was broken. I was and still am shocked.
