I arrived at 5pm which is two hours after check in...

I arrived at 5pm which is two hours after check in only to be told my room is not ready and the only available room is a non-smoking room otherwise my room will be ready in 45mins. I informed the receptionist that I booked a non-smoking room and I need to freshen up as Iam attending a conference, but if I am satisfied with the smoking room I will take it. Upon seeing the smoking room I was not happy as naturally it had the scent of cigarettes.
I went back and told her that I would not be taking the room and if possible may I freshen up in the smoking room and after I return from the conference I will go to my non smoking room. Shockingly I was told the best solution is me going to shower at the swimming pool and nothing can be done. I asked to see the manager and the lady said he isn't available and all of a sudden a non-smoking room was available.
This was very rude of the hotel and Iam highly dissatisfied with the treatment I received. I would not recommend this hotel.
