I ve been a member since 2005. I admit that I did leave for a year, but I came back for the amenities and friendly staff. However, recent interactions with the membership team have come together to drive me and my family away.
1. We signed a leave of absence form for my children, but somehow that was lost by the club and instead they were deleted from the membership.
2. We asked how much it would be to restart their membership, and were given a price $50 more per month than we had previously been paying.
3. We asked Josh to speak with his manager, Jeff, about this, as he was unable to guarantee that we could recover our original rate keep in mind that we should never have lost our rate, as we didn t actually take anyone off the membership. That was done by the club!
4. A week later, not having received any word, we called back.
5. Josh called back at last, the following week! When we returned his call, we were told he had stepped out of the office, and would call back in 5 minutes. We never heard from him.
6. At this point, we decided that we could save a whole lot of money at another gym. I called Bob. He said I could come anytime between 8 AM and 8 PM and cancel the membership.
7. Today, we met Bob. He greeted me with a lemon face. He never looked at or addressed my wife. He never asked if there was anything he or the club could do to keep my business.
8. Bob was the only membership counselor left at the club when we spoke with him. He left at 7 PM, so 8 AM to 8 PM was obviously not true.
So, it was clearly a team effort. Jeff, Josh, and Bob were able to drive away a family who had been members for over 10 years. They worked hard at it, and they succeeded!
