We spent 4 nights at Constance Lemuria at a rate of 1250 per night to discover Praslin, after a wonderful stay of 8 nights at the Hilton Labriz on Silhouette Island. While we were in the first place happy to spend that much money on what we expected to be a once in a lifetime experience, it turned out to be one of the worst stays in my life of seasoned luxury hospitality traveller. I guess the opex and capex of running the golf are insanely high, resulting in them charging very high prices to cope with the structure cost, for an experience really far away from the money spent, doubled of a terrible "French management" and "new richs" culture. In particular if you don't practice golf there is no point going there, as the hospitality experience can be much better in places way less expensive.
A few of the worst which happened to us during our stay (I guess we are either very unlucky or have very high expectations, given the numerous positive reviews we see here):
- The only communication you receive from them upfront is to tell you they can't help booking your helicopter trip, you have to arrange things yourself. I still can't believe it in this price range. Luckily the Hilton where we were staying before arranged the direct transfer from Silhouette to Praslin for us.
- Kids club. Despite being told at check in they have the best kids club in Seychelles, our son was refused because not exactly 4 (he's 4 months away). But the (very rude) kids club manager told me they would be happy to have someone taking care of him and charging babysitting rate (?!) ... The terrible experience at Constance Lemuria resulted in our son feeling guilty he made something wrong and spending the rest of the day sad and stressed, thanks for the "5 stars" experience...
- Room: noise insulation is a joke, but I have to say we didn't get lucky on the neighbors as some left their kids crying and yelling outside during the nap time of ours. And the other neighbors above us played loud music late in the evening so we had to complain to the reception several times. Besides it the "junior suite" is relatively small for the cost and bed mattress is pretty small, a bit firm and our bed frame super noisy, every move resulting in a rattling noise
- Service: Despite the insane headcount they look relatively understaffed or not really paying attention. Any time we would tell housekeeping to come back later because for example we were going to leave in 20min, they simply never came back. It was so far away to the very friendly, "almost like home" service we had at Hilton... and doesn't feel much like the service you're expecting at more than 1250 per night. At breakfast, we always had to ask 3 times to get my double espresso, the order seamed to be passed on to a guy who didn t act on it.
