I worked here 3 weeks and 4 days then got laid off...

I worked here 3 weeks and 4 days then got laid off. When I was hired, I was told theres room to move up in the company and they will have work. I was hired through a temp agency and was treated differently bc of that. Everyone else got a gift card for Thanksgiving, I did not and was told bc of them not bringing in money as they normally would and bc I was a temp. I thought Thanksgiving was for GIVING! Regardless of me being hired through a temp, I work for them! Also did not get an invitation to the Christmas dinner. The first 2 weeks there was work to do and the rest of the time we sat and basicly did nothing. When I was laid off I was told there wont be any work till after Christmas and they cant afford to keep me. I asked, why hire me if there was no work? I was told they "thought" they had contracts coming in. U do not "think" something so major is going to happen without knowing! I feel like they played with me and u do NOT treat people like that nor play with their lives like that. I have a new born baby, was planning to move closer to be close to the company, to live and pay bills period, u don't do that to people and they should be a shamed of themselves! Obviously no communications between the departments. Sickens me.
