They diagnosed my dog with an ear infection after giving her a "nose to tail" check up.
I was charged for $300 worth of prescriptions after what was a 2+ hour visit. They wanted to bring her in after the ear infection was cleared up for a days worth of anesthesia and hip x-rays. On Thursday I could tell Glory's condition was not improving and relayed details to the vet tech about her status. They again advised me to come in for the hip x-rays. I called a vet in Weatherford for a second opinion and they got me in first thing Saturday morning. After only being there for 10 minutes, the vet had diagnosed Glory with a neurological disease and advised me to go to the ER where a neurologist was on duty. After about 10 more minutes, the vet and her team had found me an ER, gave me the neurologists name, cell phone, and address and told me to call when I was close and they would have a room set up for me. I went straight there and indeed had a room and amazing care the entire time. Unfortunately the swelling on Glory's brain had become so severe they were unable to even stabilize her for an MRI. Glory did not make it.
I understand that we are human and therefore make mistakes, but the fact that I had been treating an ear infection, rather than brain swelling/neurological disease, that another vet could detect in 10 minutes and no actual exam - is beyond me. Since Glory's death two weeks ago I have regretted going to A-Animal Clinic more than anything in my life. Additionally, had I led them blindly down the road of hip x-rays, she would have gone under anesthesia, potentially never to wake up again.
At the end of the day, I was ready to go in to any kind of debt (like we all would for our pets), so it isn't about the money... but I cannot help but feel completely taken advantage of and neglected all at the same time.
There were other pieces of my visit that I was not wild about, but what does going in to it solve? I just know that maybe had they been more concerned about Glory's well-being than them making a buck, she would still be alive today.
