At this location is Heineken's sprawling production facility and main offices. It is a campus of several buildings and is not open to the public. From the main entrance road on the left is their square 5-story office building with a large green Heineken sign. There is a visitor parking lot, which I pulled into briefly to get a look at the campus. To the right you can see a farm of large outdoor white tanks, most likely fermenters. These are massive and tall, and a satellite view shows how big this facility is. To the right are their huge packing and distribution buildings. There is a steady stream of trucks, a large enterprise. The original Heineken brewery opened in Amsterdam in 1867. Over the next 100 years the facilities were repeatedly renovated, the current 1950's building can be visited for the Heineken Experience tour. The brewing operation moved to this modern production facility (7 times larger) in 1988, but the old brewery is still very popular with visitors who wish to learn about its history and taste its beer. The original brewery became internationally famous after winning gold at the 1889 World's Fair (the same fair at which the Eiffel Tower debuted). Today, that gold medal is printed below the banner on each bottle. Heineken is the most imported beer to the US, thanks to its prompt marketing just after prohibition ended. If you're passing this way it is interesting to catch a glimpse of the modern brewery, but if your interested in a visitors experience, then I recommend Amsterdam.
