It was my friend Roger's birthday so we decided to go there for lunch. We have been visiting ALL the Michelin restaurants that offer a special lunch time menu. Not because we are mean but so that we can .... well yes we are mean. Not too mean to spend 160 pounds on lunch (Roger paid, after all it was his birthday)
Back to the review. The room was best described as 1960's dated NOT cool 1960's, but drab 1960's. The service was impeccable even though for one course the young lady served us from the right side and leaned across me.
The attention to detail was good, and the food was, to be truthful, uninspiring.
The highlight for us was the choice of breads and the chocolates offered at the end of the meal. What I think i'm trying to say was there was no pomp and ceremony that a 3 star Michelin restaurant should have coupled with the poor decor. Having said all this, I will still give it 4 stars because it was still good but just boring, no pizzaz. Bottom line, will I return? NO, Would I recommend it? NO.
