I've lived relatively near Mt. Vernon the majority of my life and have no idea why I haven't visited sooner. We had so much touring the house and gardens as well as the museum. We'll be getting a membership so we can go back when it isn't so hot, and as often as we want. My favorite part, so far, was the gardens. They sell the seeds from their gardens in the shops, and have a plant sale, too. I'm looking forward to planting my seeds.
