In the past we have had very good service and quality work done for slightly above average prices. I felt this was an acceptable arrangement.
However, for the current service performed they charged $430 for replacing the window regulator in my 2003 Honda Odessey van. After calling around I get competition prices from $167 to $365 the average seemed to be about $300.
When they originally called with the quote I asked what the eval fee was and they stated they have $107 worth of work done so far. That would be to remove a door panel and verify it's the window regulator needing replacement (which they pretty much already determined from the original phone call...). I feel that to be an excessive evaluation fee for this problem.
The price for an OEM part obtained during calling is $104.57. According to a Youtube video I watched (and that guy wasn't in a big hurry), it took half an hour to change the part.
I understand different shops charge widely varying amounts, but now that my favorite shop is too far off the expensive end- I don't feel I can go there and not get overcharged.
