My son left high school as a sophomore he was only 17 he wanted a career in the military. He didn't want to spend 3 more years in high school. I was a mother that was involved in my sons life so leaving high school just did not seem right to me or that he was mature enough and I was correct it has been a long 7 months but I can say Atteberry did their best at getting him through everything in 7 months he has finished his high school diploma not a GED he got his diploma he also got certified in security. Being. 17 year old he now wants to go to college instead of military he just wasn't mature enough to be in the program. My son is not a bad kid he is a hard headed boy. I feel it is not set up to have minors ther. Several occasions I called the dorm because he wouldn't answer his phone he should have been grounded in dorm for not having papers done and he was out doing what he wanted there's way too much free time he also picked up smoking. The staff help as much as possible. The bottom line is he is a minor and they're not there to deal with minors they have a lot of young men and women that families don't care what they are doing. So be aware if you are a parent that has strict rules and guidelines this may not be the option for you. While they will do every thing in their power to get them through the program your child will have free reign to do what they want on campus. My son will complete the program in 7 months. The other issue was that once I got everybody on the phone I found out he had 45 absences not once was I ever call to be told. As a parent if he was in high school I'd be facing jail time if he missed that many days. That's where the supervision for minors is too relaxed.
