We stayed between 15-16 of June

1. There is Construction right across the road and they will be there for the next 6+ months. It's incredibly loud and a very rude awakening at 6am. It's impossible to sleep past it.

2. The pillows sink right in and whilst the hotel has a pillow menu, at 1am when you realize this is an impossible mission to sleep with this pillow as it's sinking and becoming hard by then its too late as my partner is already asleep or trying to.

3. The mattress is incredibly uncomfortable its not soft its not hard and there are no broken springs digging into your back it just sinks its not supportive neither of us could get rest our eyes are bloodshot and we get so drained not the best way to start a holiday. If your like us and have a major activity to go to the next day I cannot in good conscious recommend this hotel.

4. Dust all over the cups and cutlery despite it being in a cabinet.

5. Would you like complimentary tea /coffee well the water source is in the bathtub, or travel to the convenience store across the road and buy an overpriced bottle of water which is twice as big and so cheaper than the minibar prices.

6. Reception staff at check in felt like the Spanish inquisition they were not welcoming or friendly or approachable I felt like he was asking us if we are sure we're meant to be here.

7. Hotel bar provided the worst old fashioned cocktail I've ever had and I tried making my own while incorrectly converting ounces to mL so that's saying something.

8. Dinner at Cafe Opera was something else, we have been here before and had an amazing experience. This time however staff are amazingly friendly and highly attentive such is why they get a star.

Last time we got the 5pm seating and food was fresh as we had the first seating of the night.

This time we went in at 8pm and the balmain bugs were dry the roasted food was dried out, there was a tray full of empty clam shells none of the savoury foods were being replaced with fresh dishes
It was all leftovers, the sauces had skin on them and having to scrape the bottom of the lobster bisque pot like a beggar isn't the best way to remember this dining experience.
