TRS is absolutely the most difficult organization ...

TRS is absolutely the most difficult organization to deal with. They do not return phone calls. They do not respond to letters. In desperation I drove to Austin to turn in the paperwork to start my husbands retirement benefit, he passed away while still employed/teaching. I wanted an appointment but was told I had to wait 5, yes folds FIVE months for an appointment, but I could come down as a "walk in". I drove to Austin, was able to see someone....and 6 weeks later the paperwork was still laying on someone's desk rather than processed. I finally received benefits, only one month later the benefits were directed to the account of the ex-wife. Unbelievable. Then, I signed up for health coverage. I had to pay the premiums until the retirement benefits started. I paid three months premiums, when they sent the first retirement benefit they withheld the same three months benefits. I have called, no return calls, I have written with proof of cancelled checks. nothing. nada. no refund of three months of double paid premiums. This is the most incompetent organization I have ever seen in my life!
